How do I apply a program update to HandicapMaster?

You may wish to print this page, so that it is available whilst you perform the update.

Review the repairs and new features added to HandicapMaster:

Please download the update that is applicable to your version of HandicapMaster.

Determine your version of HandicapMaster

Start HandicapMaster and within the title bar of the main HandicapMaster window you will see the version number displayed.
If you are using version 9, download the latest update:
  1. Please visit the 'downloads' section of this web site.
  2. Select 'Download HandicapMaster (all editions)'.
  3. Click 'Download File' button. This will start a download of a file to your PC. Save the download file to your Hard Disk (any folder will do so long as you can remember where!).
If you are using version 8, 7 or 6, download the last update (Note: these are now unsupported versions) :
  1. Please visit the 'downloads' section of this web site.
  2. Select 'Other Downloads'.
  3. Select 'Most Recent Version 8 Update', Most Recent Version 7 Update' or 'Most Recent Version 6 Update'.
  4. Click 'Download File' button. This will start a download of a file to your PC. Save the download file to your Hard Disk (any folder will do so long as you can remember where!).

Apply the update:

Take a safe copy of your existing HandicapMaster files:
  1. Start Windows Explorer (Press the Windows and E keys together).
  2. Navigate to the HandicapMaster folder (by default this may be C:\program files\HandicapMaster). Select the HandicapMaster folder name (in the left hand column).
  3. Select EDIT then COPY from the menu.
  4. Select Program Files folder (again in the left hand column).
  5. Select EDIT then PASTE from the menu. A new folder should appear called 'Copy of HandicapMaster'.
Apply the update:
  1. Start Windows Explorer (Press the Windows and E keys together).
  2. Locate the file that you downloaded, on your system. Typically, it will be called something like Hm_Setup_835 (the number may be different).
  3. Double-click over the file name. This will start the update program.

    The update program will automatically locate where HandicapMaster is installed on your system and update HandicapMaster accordingly.
Remove Safe Copy of HandicapMaster:
  1. Once you are happy HandicapMaster is working without problems from the new version, you may delete the 'Copy of HandicapMaster' folder from your PC.
